The National Association of Seadogs (Pyrates Confraternity) Rainbow Deck, has called for an end to police brutality and decries the non implementation of reports of the Judicial Panels on Inquiry that was set up across the country to probe brutality by the disbanded Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS).
The Rainbow Deck of the National Association of Seadogs at a campaign organised in Effurun, stated that it been over a year since the last panel of inquiry gave its report and nothing has been done about the said report, rather we have been inundated with more incidents of police brutality across the country and the city of Warri.
The campaign to end police brutality was hinged heavily on the success recorded two years ago in a sweeping campaign across the nation, where youths, adults and like minds came out to speak out against the decade long plague of police brutality.
As we approach another elective year, the National Association of Seadogs (Pyrates Confraternity) Rainbow Deck, sees this period as prime to continue to speak against and ensure an end to police brutality. In a statement to pressmen, it said “The time is set and prime for the polity to pick up on the fight to end police brutality, we need to hold the next and incoming leaders accountable to ensuring that our society is rid of blood thirsty and unprofessional police men, who have brought the uniform of the Nigerian Police Force to disrepute. We should as a matter of fact insist on the full implementation of the reports of the Judicial Panel of Inquiries. These issues should be at the fore front of policy discourse towards the next election”.
The organization also called on other like-minded civil society organizations, to key into the campaign and ensure that the struggle towards achieving an egalitarian society which began with the efforts and progress made 2020 and resulted in loss of lives do not end in vain. The organization which took its campaign across the streets of Effurun and environs, paid courtesy visits to the Area Commander Warri Area Command of the Nigerian Police Force, the Divisional Police Headquarters Ekpan, Ugborikoko and Enerhen and the Uvwie Local Government Secretariat in
its quest to ensure that the campaign hits the right quarters.
